This training is required for Department of Corrections employees who may be ordered to conduct Pre-Sentence Investigations, (PSI,) and report their findings to the sentencing court. It will describe the pre-sentence investigation process and the statutory and directive (342.01 Pre-sentence Investigations,) requirements for the investigator's report of their findings.

The training will introduce the PSI format, necessary forms, and suggested language for recommendations. It will reflect recent statutory and directive revisions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice constructing PSIs and discuss their experience and products with their fellow students.

In should be noted that, while the directive contains requirements for sex offender PSIs', this event is not intended to replace the specialized training offered for investigations in those cases.
