Hearing Officer Training- Basic
This is an introductory class for all new DOC Hearing Officers canidates. This training has been developed to provide an understanding of the relavant DOC directives and a comprehensive view of the responsibilities associated with being a Hearing Officer.

| Attendees | All nominations will come from site managers. Participants will be informed of their nomination and provided an application to fill out. If their application is acccepted, they will then be required to pass an online test before they are eligible to complete the classroom component of the training. All components of the training must be satisfactorily completed before they are eligible to be considered for designation as a Hearing Officer. |

This is a 6 hour, scenario based training which is geared towards preparing new Hearing Officers canidates to effectively perform the duties associated with the position. Topics to be covered will include, directive review, cognative assessments, reviewing relevant information, what to include in the finding of fact, assessing the validity of evidence, and how to effectively provide documentation to suport the decission made in the finding of fact. There will be a practical skill assessment at the end of the day to evaluate participants.
