The mission of the Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services (http://www.ccvs.state.vt.us/) is to join with victims, survivors, and those who interact with victims to implement, sustain, and support a system of services across Vermont that is victim-centered, comprehensive, and just.
Vision:
Victims/survivors of crime are afforded justice.
Achieving a state of justice includes recognition of harm done, and support for its reparation, by the state, its agencies and organizations, its laws and policies, and its people.
Principles:
-
Victim services are available to every crime victim, regardless of whether the crime is reported or prosecuted, and regardless of whether the perpetrator is identified, convicted, sentenced, or released.
-
Victim services are accessible to every crime victim.
-
Victim services are delivered in a timely manner.
-
Victim services are comprehensive, and achieve standards developed by victims, survivors and service providers, community, government agencies and lawmakers.
-
Victims and survivors are at the center of planning and evaluating a new and just system.
