This training is designed to orient and assist the professionals entering the role of Social Worker, Resource Coordinator, Supervisor or District Director within the first 6 months of hire. This seminar provides an overview of the knowledge, values, and skills needed in the following areas:
Medical Aspects of Child Abuse & Neglect:
- Background of Medical Aspects
- Conditions and Diagnoese Associated with Physical Abuse and Neglect (including photo presentations of cases)
- Conditions commonly mistaken for physical abuse and neglect; Medical decision making (including photo review)
Medical Aspects of Sexual Abuse of Children & Adolescents
- What to expect of the Medical work-up; common misperceptions
- Behavioral Indicators of sexual abuse
- Normal, Abnormal, and Uncertain findings (including conditions mistaken for abuse)
- Teamwork across disciplines
