This training is designed to orient and assist the professionals entering the role of Social Worker, Resource Coordinator, Supervisor or District Director within the first 6 months of hire. This seminar provides an overview of the knowledge, values, and skills needed in the following areas:
- Understand the importance of stability, secure attachments and the impact of separation and loss on child and adolescent development
- Identify stratagies for concurrent permanency planning for and with children and adolescents; reducing the number of moves
- Explore ways to make placement transitions for children and youth a positive experience
- Identify stages of grief and separation trauma for children/youth and parents adjusting to placements
- Increase awareness of how to decrease personal and agency liability
