This training is designed to orient and assist the professionals entering the role of Social Worker, Resource Coordinator, Supervisor or District Director within the first 6 months of hire. This seminar provides an overview of the knowledge, values and skills needed in the following areas:
- Understand and be able to describe and discuss risk and protective factors in children, youth & families who are at-risk for child maltreatment
- Identify ways to build on strengths and protective factors to support the best outcomes for children
- Learn what research says about risk and protective factors
- Discuss the role of the Child Protection Services Social Worker
- Overview of child protection court process
- Explore safety plans for children and youth to minimize repeat maltreatment
