This training is designed to orient and assist the professionals entering the role of Social Worker, Resource Coordinator, Supervisor or District Director within the first 6 months of hire. This seminar provides an overview of the knowledge, values and skills needed to:
· Increase knowledge of the latest research and understanding of child development from infancy through adolescence
· Distinguish normal from abnormal development
· Recognize and understand the contributions of social and cultural factors on healthy development
· Understand how the concept of risk and resiliency and the impact of trauma affect the healthy development of children and youth
· Understand how to apply developmental concepts to assessment and interventions with individuals and families
· Increase knowledge of the latest research and understanding of
reactive attachment disorders
· Identify the key components of a comprehensive assessment of attachment Issues
· Discover concrete tools that you can use to support children, youth and their families struggling with attachment issues
Directions: I-89 Exit 10, to Route 100 South to Waterbury, left at stop sign onto Route 2 East, right at second light at the North Entrance of the State Office Complex. Stanley Hall is the first large brick building on the left.
