DAIL - ADA Training and/or Deaf and Hard of Hearing Training
Two required Trainings for all DAIL staff: In the morning, an overview to the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and how it applies to the Dept of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living. In the afternoon, a workshop about Deaf culture, suggestions about interacting with someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and information about resources that are available. You may register for either one workshop, or both workshops.

Audience: Required trainings for all new DAIL staff. Refresher for other staff.
ADA Workshop, Time: 9:30 - 12:30
Panel Presentation: Dena Monahan, Fred Jones, Carrie Foster, David Sagi, Jeff Coy and a self-advocate
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Workshop, Time: 1:30 - 4:30
This workshop will include:
- Some of the accommodations used for the Deaf and hard of hearing population and the kinds of technology that is now available.
- Explain how to request a sign language interpreter or CART services.
- Information about Deaf Culture and some of the issues related to seeking services from human service agencies.
