Immigration Application Fees Will Likely Go Up
As early as June the cost to apply for U.S. Citizenship could rise. At present: $400 per application. As early as June 2007: $675 per application (including fingerprint fee).
Most other application fees may also rise significantly, including those Green Cards, Travel Documents and applications for sponsoring relatives. In order to be eligible to apply for U.S. Citizenship you will need to qualify with the proceeding basic requirements:
-Live in the U.S. for at least 5 years as a permanent resident
-Have been physically present at least 2.5 years of those 5 years and not have left the U.S. for more than 6 months at a time.
-Have lived in Vermont for at least 3 months before filing the application.
-Be 18 years or older.
-Have "good moral character."
-Know English and have knowledge of U.S. history and government.
-Be willing to take an oath of allegiance to the United States.
